Emmetson Zeah Shooting Update: Emmetson Zeah, 19, has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole, along with an additional consecutive 70-year sentence, for the fatal shooting of two teenagers outside The Mall in Columbia in February 2025.
Zeah was convicted on multiple charges, including two counts of first-degree murder, first-degree assault, reckless endangerment, and several firearms offenses connected to the deadly shooting that shocked the Columbia community.
According to investigators, the violence erupted on February 22, 2025, near the parking lot and bus stop area along Little Patuxent Parkway outside the mall. Officers with the Howard County Police Department arrived to find two teenagers suffering from gunshot wounds. The victims, 16-year-old Michael Robertson and 15-year-old Blake McCray, both from Columbia, later died from their injuries.
Authorities said surveillance video, witness testimony, and GPS monitoring data played a major role in linking Zeah to the crime scene. Court records also revealed that Zeah admitted the firearm used in the mall shooting would match ballistic evidence connected to another nearby shooting that occurred on Valentine’s Day.
During a search of his residence, detectives recovered a firearm believed to match shell casings found at the scene, along with clothing and additional evidence tied to the killings. Prosecutors described the case as a tragic act of violence that devastated multiple families and deeply impacted the Columbia community.
