Seaford, DE, USA: A tragic shooting near the Concord Pond Boat Ramp claimed the life of a 17-year-old teen from Laurel on Thursday night, leaving the community shaken and mourning another young life lost to violence.
According to the Delaware State Police, troopers responded to the 24000 block of German Road in Seaford around 8:45 p.m. on May 21 following reports of a vehicle crash. When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered the teenage driver suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Troopers immediately began lifesaving efforts before the victim was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
Investigators say the teen was shot by an unknown suspect near the Concord Pond boat ramp shortly before the crash occurred. Authorities have not yet released the victim’s identity pending notification of family members.
The Delaware State Police Homicide Unit has taken over the investigation, which remains active and ongoing. Detectives continue working to determine the circumstances surrounding the deadly incident and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
